Austin Peay State University, Master Plan Update & ADA Improvements

Location: Clarksville, Tennessee
Client: Tennessee Board of Regents

Lose & Associates, Inc. has a long standing relationship with Austin Peay State University (APSU) and the university’s campus planning and development staff. Serving as a consultant on the planning team, Lose staff members assisted in the update of the campus master plan and have completed implementing ADA improvements on campus.

Our staff was tasked with completing 5-year updates of building evaluations for all buildings on campus, analyzing pedestrian and vehicular systems, parking inventories and assessing green space and landscape on the campus. Using the Tennessee Board of Regents’ standard building assessment forms, our architectural staff members performed walkthroughs of over 50 buildings (academic, residential, administrative, athletic and maintenance buildings) on campus. We prepared condition assessments that were compiled with other team members’ mechanical systems and redevelopment assessments. Other staff members also assessed site infrastructure, transportation and open space elements on campus that were used to guide the updated master plan.

Lose & Associates has recently completed implementation plans to mitigate ADA compliance issues, which were noted in a recently completed ADA assessment of the campus. Our staff members prepared 2-phase construction plans for new access routes from parking areas to buildings and brought spectator zones of athletic facilities into compliance. We have also completed building ADA accessibility enhancements in 7 academic and athletic buildings on campus.
