Barren Fork Greenway
Location: McMinnville, Tennessee
Client: McMinnville Parks and Recreation Department
Located in a historic downtown area of McMinnville, Tennessee along the west fork of Barren River, the Barren Fork Greenway connects Riverfront Park with Pepper Branch Park. Our initial work included: staking a trail route, coordinating surveying consultants, conducting a public meeting, preparation of opinions of probable cost and development of a master plan. Lose & Associates then assisted the city in the successful preparation of an Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act (ISTEA) grant for construction of the greenway and sidewalk improvements. The greenway runs approximately 1 mile in total length and consists of a main trail along the river and two spur trails that connect to surrounding neighborhoods and commercial districts. It is located at the base of rock outcrops overlooking the river, passes beneath two historic bridges and then crosses the river via an existing roadway bridge sidewalk, then returns back to the river and enters into Pepper Branch Park.
