Dunwoody, Georgia, Trails and Greenways

Location: Dunwoody, GA

As part of a design-build team, Lose & Associates was selected to engineer a 2/3 mile long, 12’ wide paved multi-use trail through Brook Run Park that would connect to a larger City-wide greenway project. Due to Georgia DNR funding, all components needed to be ADA compliant and follow AASHTO standards, requiring some regrading along the corridor.  Working with the client, we minimized disturbance where possible, while still meeting the design requirements.  Subsequently, we were selected to design the next phase of the trail which would complete its approximate 1.5 mile loop.

After working on the initial phase of the trail project in Brook Run Park, Lose & Associates was selected to analyze a trail connection between the park and the upcoming Georgetown Project Renaissance redevelopment area to the South.  We analyzed trail routes for impacts to the surrounding flood plain and developed conceptual models for a large bridge crossing of Nancy Creek to determine the limits of flood impacts the bridge would create.  We prepared construction documents for this next connection as well.
