Georgia State Parks Planning
Lose & Associates was chosen by Georgia State Parks and Historic Sites to develop a Master Plan for the Standing Boy Creek Park property, approximately 1500 acres of steep terrain along the Chattahoochee River outside of Columbus, Georgia. The goal of the planning process is to identify and locate a mixture of facilities in compliance with the Georgia State Parks development model while balancing public access with natural preservation on this unique site. During the development of this plan, the design team held multiple client coordination meetings, developed and met with a Steering Committee, held a public input meeting and made many site visits for inventory and analysis. The plan calls for various camp sites; a core recreation area featuring rental facilities, dog park, playground, fishing areas and an event lawn; an adventure area featuring disc golf, alpine slide and mountain bike trails; and an extensive network of paved and natural surface trails.
