Wilson Road Park
Location: Riverdale, Georgia
Client: City of Riverdale
In 2009, Lose & Associates was selected by the City of Riverdale to design the master plan for a new park at its Wilson Road facility. To initiate the project, Lose & Associates staff met with City staff to review and evaluate the steep terrain, flood plains, etc. on the property. After gaining a feel for the development potential of the property, we worked with City staff to establish a program of park features for inclusion in the master plan. We also worked with a citizen steering committee to refine the facilities the community desired in the design. We presented preliminary plans, final plans, and opinions of probable cost for a design that included 2 multi-purpose soccer/football fields (one with a baseball field overlay), a separate baseball field, multiple concession/restroom buildings and picnic shelters, a passive play area, a future community building, several trail networks and connections to future greenways, utility connections, parking expansion, and road improvements.
A first phase costing $2.5 million was identified and developed into construction drawings. The park opened in the fall of 2012.
